FAQ
The things people usually ask before getting in touch. Can't find yours — just send it to us.
Getting started
We're headquartered in London and most of our current sites are in and around the capital. We're expanding into other UK regions — send us your postcode and we'll confirm coverage for your site.
You probably don't need to guess — that's what the free site assessment is for. As a rough rule, if you can fit 2 or more parking bays and have any kind of existing electricity supply, it's worth a conversation.
Cost & funding
Yes — you or your business commissions and pays for the installation. We install and commission it through vetted local installers, and point you to financing options and any grants that might apply, so it doesn't all have to be paid upfront.
Through a fixed, transparent fee agreed before any work starts. There are no hidden mark-ups added once installation is under way.
Yes. We can put you in touch with asset finance and leasing providers who spread the cost over a few years, and flag any UK grant schemes — such as the Workplace Charging Scheme — your site may qualify for.
The technical stuff
That's the most common blocker, and we handle it — submitting the grid connection application to your local Distribution Network Operator and managing any upgrade works needed to get you the capacity.
Network operator timelines are outside anyone's direct control, so we build a realistic buffer into your schedule from the start and keep you updated if anything shifts — no surprises halfway through.
Usually, yes — especially if we've planned spare grid capacity in from the start, which we generally recommend even for a small first phase.
Timeline
The on-site work itself is quick — commercial multi-bay installations typically take 1–3 days, depending on the number of charge points and infrastructure required. Timeline to go-live depends on power: lower-kW sites (like standard single-phase chargers) often only need a simple notification to your network operator and can be live within weeks. Sites needing a full DNO grid connection application — typically higher-power or multi-bay sites — usually go live within 2–4 months, driven by your local Distribution Network Operator's own approval timeline rather than installation time. We give you an honest estimate upfront rather than a best case.
Once you're live
You do. The hardware and any charging revenue it generates belong to you, not to Signal Energy.
Every site is monitored 24/7, and faults are usually picked up before anyone reports them. We offer ongoing maintenance as a simple add-on service, so it's never something you have to chase yourself.
Yes. Because everything runs on open standards, you're not locked into us for maintenance — though we'd obviously like to keep looking after it.
Send it over and we'll come back with a straight answer, no obligation.
