Any size
UK businesses of any size with dedicated off-street parking at the site.
Funding
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government grant that covers a real share of your installation cost. Here's exactly what it's worth, who qualifies, and how it actually works.
The numbers
| Detail | Amount |
|---|---|
| Grant per socket | Up to £500 |
| Share of cost covered | Up to 75% of purchase & install (inc. VAT) |
| Maximum sockets per business | 40, across all sites |
| Maximum total grant | £20,000 |
| Scheme closes | 31 March 2027 (final year) |
| Installer requirement | Must use an OZEV-approved installer |
One date worth knowing: the £500 rate applies to installations completed on or after 1 April 2026. Installations completed before that date fall under the previous £350 rate. For an installation starting now, £500 is the figure that applies.
In practice
The grant scales with how many sockets you install, up to the 40-socket cap. A few worked examples, at the current £500/socket rate:
Up to £2,000 towards a typical small workplace or hospitality installation.
Up to £5,000 — a common size for a fuller workplace or depot rollout.
Up to £20,000 — the maximum available to a single business across all its sites.
Eligibility
UK businesses of any size with dedicated off-street parking at the site.
Eligible on the same terms as businesses, provided the site qualifies.
Local authorities and other public sector organisations can apply.
Small hotels, B&Bs and similar accommodation providers are specifically included.
The process
Via the government's online portal, confirming your site has dedicated off-street parking.
Our OZEV-approved installation partners confirm eligibility and manage the claim as part of the installation.
You never deal with OZEV directly for payment — the discount is applied to your final bill.
Completed and commissioned, with your compliance paperwork included as standard.
A few common questions
You start the voucher application, but from there our OZEV-approved installation partners handle the eligibility checks and the claim itself — it's built into the installation, not a separate process you're left to manage.
The grant caps at 40 sockets per business across all sites — anything beyond that isn't grant-funded, but there's no limit on how many sockets you can actually install. Financing options can help cover the rest.
The Workplace Charging Scheme can't be claimed twice for the same chargepoint alongside other OZEV infrastructure grants. We'll confirm which scheme actually fits your site before anything is claimed.
The main requirement is dedicated off-street parking clearly associated with your premises. Beyond that, eligibility depends on your specific site — worth confirming with a proper site assessment rather than guessing.
Tell us about your site and we'll confirm what the grant is actually worth for your installation, as part of your free feasibility view.
